Internal Transfer to Optometry for Vision Science Students (programs 3970 & 3972 only)

Assessment for entry into these places to commence Year 2 of the BOptom/BSc will be based on ATAR or equivalent (to be competitive this would need to be at least 90.00), performance in first year UNSW subjects and Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admissions Test (UMAT) results.

To be eligible to apply for a transfer you:

  • must NOT have undertaken post-secondary studies prior to enrolment in the Bachelor of Science/Advanced Science program
  • must have completed the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admissions Test (UMAT) in 2014
  • must be enrolled full-time in Stage 1 of the Bachelor of Science/Advanced Science and following the Vision Science major (including recommended courses)

If you do not meet the criteria above to apply for alternative entry (internal transfer) to the BOptom BSc for 2015 you may still apply for entry via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for 2015.

You may only apply for alternative entry at the end of 2014. Any further applications for transfer (eg at end of Year 2 in 3970/3972 Vision Science plan) must be made via UAC.

If you have any questions please contact the School of Optometry and Vision Science to arrange an appointment time.

Please email Shane Bale (s.bale@unsw.edu.au) the times when you are available to attend an appointment.
